Important Program Events:

Football Camps are in July! Register for Fall Flag Football league first and receive coupon code in your confirmation email
Practices Begin - Early August

Please register for school grade player will be in the Fall 2021
Safety protocols will be posted prior to start of season. WAA will follow the State of Illinois guidance for youth sports.

Equipment Needed: All players must provide their face covering. WAA provides team shirt and flags for all participants.

 League Fee: $150 through May 31, 2021, $165 June 1-July 15. $20 Late fee applies after July 15th.

Program Information

Fall Flag Football League

Non-contact football for 1st – 8th graders, played in a safe and fun atmosphere.

Each league has a player orientation, team practices, scrimmage, games and tournament.  Games are played on Saturdays and coaches will schedule practice during the week.  If necessary, league maybe modified to comply with Illinois guidelines.  

Dates: Practices and Games begin in August and continue through October
Ages: 1st – 8th grade
Location: various, TBA 

Volunteer coaches are needed. Volunteer coaches play quarterback for 1st-2nd Grade league. Coaches may make player requests  based on location and car pools. Orientation meeting required. 

Grade/Age Divisions

1st – 2nd Grade League — Pumpkin Bowl Division

This league develops basic skills and fundamentals and basic game strategy. The volunteer coach plays the quarterback position. Five vs. Five format to allow maximum opportunities per player.  10 players per team.

3rd  - 8th Grade Leagues 

Players rotate at all positions, according to league rules throughout each game. Players may try out for quarterback with 2 players per team selected as quarterback during preseason practice. Quarterbacks will have extra practices assigned for skill development. 

  • 3rd – 4th Grade League — Candy Bowl Division
    Nine vs. Nine.  There will be a maximum of 8 teams in this division.  Maximum of 13 per team
  • 5th – 6th Grade League — Turkey Bowl Division   Coaches can bring in their entire team! 
    Nine vs. nine.  There will be a maximum of 8 teams in this division. Maximum of 13 per team.
  • 7th – 8th Grade Division - Mega Bowl Division  Coaches can bring in their entire team!
    Nine vs. nine.  There will be a maximum of 8 teams in this division. Maximum of 13 per team

We will do our best to honor special requests, however, we do not guarantee them. Requests and team placement are considered based on making evenly skilled teams, coach requests and the date order received.  We limit special requests to 2 per participant and up to 5 names for head coaches except where specified.  5th - 8th grade can bring in full teams.

Special Requests

Remember: Special requests for team placement will be considered carefully, but there is NO GUARANTEE they will be honored.  For requests to be considered, the registration should be submitted as early as possible.  Requests are considered on a first come, first serve priority.  Each participant is limited to two requests (eg, friend, coach) per registration.   WAA tries to place children based on special requests, neighborhood and school.   However, we also have to make balanced teams and and are limited by the number of volunteer head coaches.  Please spell names of requested players/coaches correctly.

Rules, Equipment & Directions

Playoff Overtime:
  • A coin toss will determine alternating possession. Each team will have a possession in each OT period.
  • Each team will have a four-play possession beginning at their opponent’s 10-yard line.
  • If a team scores, they can attempt a one or two point conversion.
    • Beginning in the 3rd OT period, teams may only attempt a 2-pt PAT after scoring.
  • The team with the most points at the end of each OT period wins the game.

All other rules remain in effect.

  • Player Provided: All players should wear plastic/rubber spikes.
  • Optional: Mouthpiece, knee pads and elbow pads. They can be purchased at any sporting goods store.
  • WAA Provided: Each participant receives a team jersey and player flag belt.


Volunteer Opportunities

WAA is a non-profit volunteer organization.  Parent volunteer coaches are needed for all teams at all levels.  Please volunteer to coach your child's team.

WAA may hire and train flag football officials if additional workers are needed. If you are 16 or older and interested in applying, please complete the "Student Worker/Various" application and mail to WAA, 2323 Liberty Street, Aurora IL 60502 Attention: Flag Football Director.
