2025 Team Chicago Big and Little Sisters Program

Mission Statement

The Big and Little Soccer Sister Program at Team Chicago is designed to foster meaningful mentorship among female athletes, empowering players through connection, leadership, and shared experiences. By building bridges across age levels, the program nurtures confidence, positivity, and lifelong love for the game in an environment where every player feels seen, valued, and supported.

Program Description

The Big and Little Soccer Sister Program is a dynamic, season-long initiative developed by Team Chicago to strengthen the bonds between players across different age levels within the club. Rooted in mentorship, empowerment, and team spirit, this program aims to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment where female athletes are encouraged to grow as players, leaders, and individuals.
At the heart of the program is a thoughtfully designed mentorship structure that pairs younger players (“Littles”) with older, more experienced teammates (“Bigs”). These relationships are intended to serve as a foundation for mutual support, leadership development, and lasting friendships that transcend individual teams and game schedules.

This initiative is more than just mentorship—it’s a legacy of leadership, connection, and empowerment. By building bridges between different age levels, the Big and Little Soccer Sister Program ensures that every Team Chicago athlete has someone to look up to and someone to lead, creating a cycle of inspiration.

Program Goals

Foster Positive Role Modeling: Create enduring relationships through mentorship and example, where older players demonstrate integrity, resilience, and teamwork.

Build a Unified Club Community: Strengthen connections that go beyond individual teams, enhancing the overall club culture through mutual support and camaraderie.

Develop Confidence and Resilience: Support younger athletes as they grow in confidence and overcome challenges with the guidance and encouragement of their Bigs.

Promote Inclusivity and Belonging: Ensure that every player, regardless of age or skill level, feels like an essential and valued part of the Team Chicago family.

Grow Future Leaders: Provide leadership opportunities for older players, encouraging them to mentor with empathy, responsibility, and pride.

Encourage Active Participation: Inspire players to support each other by attending games, celebrating successes, and offering encouragement through signs, cheers, and support.

Program Costs: $60 per participant

(Covers all events, materials, a custom t-shirt, welcome basket, and a ticket to the Chicago Stars game)
  • Note: While participation in every event is encouraged to get the most from the program, players are not required to attend every scheduled event in order to take part or benefit from the experience.

Registration Fee Includes:

Meet and Greet (September 5th, 2025):
As part of the Big and Little Soccer Sister Program, Team Chicago offers a series of fun activities designed to spark connection. At the Meet and Greet, Bigs and Littles will come together to create personalized game-day signs, filled with bright colors, fun messages, and team pride, which they’ll use to cheer each other on during their games. They will make homemade bracelets using colorful string or beads to remind each player that they have someone cheering for them every step of the way. Together, they will decorate custom t-shirts with their names, numbers, and creative designs, turning a simple shirt into a symbol of unity. The event wraps up with a fun and energetic soccer tennis tournament, where Bigs and Littles, compete, and connect on the field. These shared moments set the tone for a season filled with support, mentorship, and lasting friendships.

Game Day (TBD):
Bigs will attend their Little Sister’s games to cheer them on with enthusiasm and support and Littles will do the same for their Bigs. When the sisters attend the games, they’ll bring the personalized signs they created during the Meet & Greet, proudly displaying their encouragement and team spirit.

Chicago Stars Game (fka Chicago Red Stars) (November 2nd, 2025):
As a special highlight of the Big and Little Soccer Sister Program, all participating players will attend a Chicago Stars (fka Chicago Red Stars) professional women's soccer game. This experience is designed to bring our soccer sisters together off the field. Team Chicago will provide complimentary tickets for all Bigs and Littles, giving them the chance to bond, have fun, and see the sport played at the highest level. Parents and family members will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets during registration and join in on this exciting club outing. It’s a powerful way for players to dream big, connect with the larger soccer community, and celebrate their journey as athletes alongside their teammates and mentors.
  • If a player is unable to attend the Chicago Stars game, they may donate their ticket to another Team Chicago family or request a prorated registration fee.
