2023 Cross Town Baseball League

WAA Crosstown Teams play with other local community teams from Wheaton, Lombard and Winfield

Each team will play approximately 14 league games and participate in an end of season tournament in late June (scheduling weather dependent).  All teams will host home games. The majority of games for WAA Pony teams will be in Aurora and Naperville. WAA teams will practice on local fields. Games begin in mid-April (weather permitting) and are scheduled to end in late June. An All Star game will be played with date TBA.

Register Early! This is a first come, first serve league. Our goal is to have 3 or 4 teams of 12 participants each.

Teams will be led by volunteer coaches dedicated to helping players improve their skills while abiding by WAA’s Code of Conduct. There will be a continued emphasis placed on the fundamentals of the game within a framework of teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship over a 14 game regular season and postseason. 

This is a league for 2022-2023 7th and 8th graders.

All players – including returning players – will be required to participate in the player evaluation.

Please volunteer to coach! Coaches must apply: 2023 Coach Application - Due by 2/15/2023. Coaches that volunteer, complete the application and are assigned to a team, will receive a $50 discount at player registration (after evaluations).

February 28 - Evaluation registration deadline
March 4 - Player Clinic - REGISTER TODAY! (Must be registered to participate)
March 5 - Evaluations at Waubonsie Valley High School - Time will be communicated week of Feb 27th
Mid March - player draft and player notification
March/April - Indoor training at WAA facilities
April -Outdoor practices begin
April - Games begin
June - Picture day and All Star Game
Late June/July - Playoffs

Program Information

WAA Cross Town Pony Baseball League

New for the 2022 season, the WAA Pony league will become the WAA Crosstown League with Naperville Pony Baseball and other local community teams from Wheaton, Lombard and Winfield.  Each team will play approximately 16-18 league games and participate in an end of season tournament in late June (scheduling weather dependent).   All teams will host home games.  The majority of games for WAA Pony teams will be in Aurora and Naperville.  WAA teams will practice on local fields.  Games begin in mid-April (weather permitting) and are scheduled to end in late June. 

The Crosstown League is a baseball program for current 7th and 8th graders (grade as of May 1, 2023). On March 6, 2022, all players are required to participate in a player evaluation to insure fair and equal team.  Siblings will be placed on the same team and we will do our best to accommodate limited special requests.

All players MUST be registered prior to evaluations. 

There will be continued emphasis placed on the fundamentals of the game as players are instructed on hitting, throwing, catching and base running within a framework of teamwork and sportsmanship.

Players must provide their own glove, cleats (no metal) and white pants. WAA will provide  balls, catcher gear, and bases for each team.  Team Shirt, hat and socks are included with the registration fee.

 For further details, please reference the Ponies rules , however, these rules are in the process of being updated per Cross-Town league agreement.

All participants must register and participate.
Notification of scheduled evaluation time will be sent by email.

Volunteer Opportunities

WAA is a non-profit volunteer organization.  Parent volunteer coaches are needed for all teams at all levels.  Please volunteer to coach your child's team.  

Coaching Descriptions;

Head coach: 

Primary responsibility for management and motivation of the team. A solid understanding of the rules of baseball is helpful and a desire to teach baseball fundamentals to children is necessary.  Attendance at a WAA baseball coaching clinic is required. The head coach notifies all team members within 48 hours of equipment hand-out.  Provides team with roster, schedule, rulebook, and picture information. Head Coach subject to background check.

WAA will be offering FREE individual usage to HEAD coaches for cage time at the Training Center from March 1st - July 31st. More information to come!

Assistant Coach:  Assists the head coach.
