2024 Summer Competitive Baseball

The WAA Competitive Baseball Program has two divisions:
Minors Baseball for 9 and 10 year old players (age as of May 1, 2024). Highly competitive 8 year old's may tryout.
Majors Baseball for 11 and 12 year old players (age as of May 1, 2024). Highly competitive 10 year old's may tryout.

The Competitive Program is for players who are looking for increased competition over what recreational baseball provides, but without the increased commitment that travel baseball requires. Current travel players are not eligible.

Teams will be led by volunteer coaches dedicated to helping players improve their skills while abiding by WAA’s Code of Conduct. Although competitive, a continued emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of the game within a framework of teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship over a 17-game regular season plus postseason. An All-Star game is held in June and a July Travel Ball Tournament team will be formed (attendance at the May tryout is required to be considered for the team). Players pitch the entire game and regulation baseballs are used.

All players – including returning players – will be required to tryout and must meet a minimum draft score to be eligible to be drafted or return to the same team.

Competitive coaches interested in being considered for a role must apply. Competitive coaches must apply2024 Coach Application - Due by 2/15/2024. Head Coaches that volunteer, complete the application and are assigned to a team, will receive a $50 discount at player registration (after tryouts).

About Minors Baseball

Minors Baseball is a competitive baseball program for 9 and 10 year old players (age as of May 1, 2024) who are looking for increased competition over what recreational baseball provides, but without the increased commitment that travel baseball requires.  Highly competitive players are encouraged to play up one year but must both meet the age requirement within 12 months of May 1st (ie. 8 years old by May 1, 2024) of the upcoming year and meet the  minimum score to be considered for the draft pool.

Teams will be led by volunteer coaches dedicated to helping players improve their skills while abiding by WAA’s Code of Conduct.  Although competitive, a continued emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of the game within a framework of teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship over a 17-game regular season and minimum 3 game postseason. An All-Star game is held in June and a July Travel Ball Tournament team will be formed (attendance at the May tryout is required to be considered for the team). Players pitch the entire game and regulation baseballs are used.
