2026 Summer Competitive Baseball

To show our appreciation to our players, coaches and families, we have maintained our prices at last year's rates, despite rising costs.

The WAA Competitive Baseball Program has two divisions:
Minors Baseball for 9 and 10 year old players (age as of May 1, 2026). Highly competitive 8 year old's may tryout.
Majors Baseball for 11 and 12 year old players (age as of May 1, 2026). Highly competitive 10 year old's may tryout.

The Competitive Program is for players who are looking for increased competition over what recreational baseball provides, but without the increased commitment that travel baseball requires. Current travel players are not eligible.

Teams will be led by volunteer coaches dedicated to helping players improve their skills while abiding by WAA’s Code of Conduct. Although competitive, a continued emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of the game within a framework of teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship over a 17-game regular season plus postseason. An All-Star game is held in late May. Players pitch the entire game and regulation baseballs are used.

All players – including returning players – will be required to tryout and must meet a minimum draft score to be eligible to be drafted or return to the same team.

Tryouts will be held on March 8th at WAA'S ALL NEW TRAINING CENTER, located at 2323 Liberty Street in Aurora.

Competitive coaches interested in being considered for a role must apply: 2026 Coach Application - Due by 2/15/2026. Head Coaches that volunteer, complete the application and are assigned to a team, will receive a $50 refund when equipment is returned by July 26, 2026.

About Minors Baseball

Minors Baseball is a competitive baseball program for 9 and 10 year old players (age as of May 1, 2026) who are looking for increased competition over what recreational baseball provides, but without the increased commitment that travel baseball requires.  Highly competitive 8 year olds may play up but must both meet the age requirement within 12 months of May 1st (i.e. 8 years old by May 1, 2026) of the upcoming year and meet the  minimum score to be considered for the draft pool. Teams are formed by a draft process to balance talent across teams.

Teams will be led by WAA approved volunteer coaches dedicated to helping players improve their skills while abiding by WAA’s Code of Conduct.  Although competitive, a continued emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of the game within a framework of teamwork, competition, and sportsmanship over a 17-game regular season and playoffs. An All-Star game and individual/team competitions are held in May. Players pitch the entire game and regulation baseballs are used. Games are played in Aurora. Standings are maintained.

For further details in reference to the rules, please see the Minors Rules. Rules continue to be evaluated for the 2026 season and may change slightly.  Players must provide their own glove, bat (USA stamped only), batting helmet, cleats (rubber/molded only), belt and pants. WAA will provide balls, catcher gear, and throw down bases for each team.  A MiLB team jersey, MiLB team hat and socks are included with the registration fee.

All players – including returning players – will be required to tryout and must meet a minimum draft score to be eligible to be drafted or return to the same team. This change has been made to insure the integrity of the draft process and ensure the right skilled players are in the league. Travel players may not participate in the league.
