2020 Spring Recreational Soccer


Spring Recreational Soccer -1st through 8th Grade

An outdoor recreational soccer program for all skill levels in grades 1st through 8th grade.  Registration includes team practices and a 6 game season. Team notification will be after the coach meeting in March 2020. Teams are formed based on special requests, participant school and neighborhood.  Special requests are not guaranteed and are based on a first come first serve basis by date received.
Head Coach receives a $25  discount upon equipment return after the season. Parent volunteer coaches needed for each team.
Practice Days, times and location: Selected by the Head Coach.
Game Dates: Saturday

Spring Recreational Soccer - Kindergarten

NEW: For the Kindergarten Program: Weather or field conditions may require the kindergarten program to be moved indoors to The WAA Sports Center. Times may be adjusted but we will not cancel the Saturday games.
Also, if enough players are on the waiting list for Gentile we may add two teams. 

The Kindergarten program is 6 weeks of outdoor soccer training and games on Saturday mornings. Each week a WAA trainer will lead all teams in a training session. Volunteer coaches will then organize their team for a 5 v 5 game.  
Head Coach receives a $25  discount upon equipment return after the season. Parent volunteer coaches needed for each team.

WAA typically has 4 sites for Kindergarten Soccer:
Gentile Field at the WAA Sports Center - 2323 Liberty Street, Aurora   (Game time 10:30)
Peterson School - 4008 Chinaberry Lane, Naperville, IL‎ 60564  (Game time 10:30)
Still Middle School - Meadowridge Drive, Aurora, IL 60504 (Game time noon) 
Wheatland Salem Church - 1852 95th St, Naperville, IL 60564 (Game time noon)

Professional Training designed for the soccer player who wants to improve their technique.

Price: $25 for 4 sessions

Special Requests

Remember: Special requests for team placement will be considered carefully, but there is NO GUARANTEE they will be honored.  For requests to be considered, the registration should submitted as early as possible.  Requests are considered on a first come, first serve priority.  Each participant is limited to two requests (eg, friend, coach) per registration.   WAA tries to place children based on special requests, neighborhood and school.   However, we also have to make balanced teams and and are limited by the number of volunteer head coaches.  Please spell names of requested players/coaches correctly.

Rules, Equipment & Directions

  • WAA Soccer Kit - $20 Kit contains yellow shirt, green shirt, black shorts and soccer socks.  WAA Soccer Kits are available at the WAA Sports Center, 2323 Liberty St. Aurora, IL. Sizes are: Youth S-M-L and Adult S-M-L
  • Shin guards and socks to cover the shin guards - Any color sock is allowed.
  • Soccer Ball - Grades K-2 use size 3 ball, Grades 3-5 use size 4 ball, Grades 6-7-8 use size 5 ball.
  • White or Black athletic shorts (no pockets or belt loops), Gym shoes or outdoor soccer cleats (no metal cleats allowed).
  • Recreational Leagues - varies by division. Please see our Directions Page on this website.

Volunteer Opportunities

WAA is a volunteer non-profit organization and depends upon parents to volunteer as coaches in all of our sports.  Please consider volunteering as a head or assistant coach for your child's team.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. 

  • Head Coach responsibilities include attending coach meeting, contacting player families, scheduling and running team practices and coaching at league games.  Coaches may ask for participant parent assistance as needed. 

  • Assistant Coach is responsible for helping the Head Coach with all of the above, and takes over for the Head Coach when needed.
