WAA's goal for all Recreational programs is to provide children with an opportunity to learn the basic skills of soccer in a safe and non-threatening environment. Our intent is for the children to have fun and learn to enjoy the game. Every child should walk off the field feeling like a winner.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

In 2022, the WAA PONY League transitioned into the WAA Cross Town League, partnering with neighboring community programs from Wheaton, Winfield, and Lombard to create a stronger, more competitive regional baseball experience.

Each team plays a 12-game league schedule, along with a double-elimination end-of-season tournament in late June. The season also features a Cross Town All-Star Game in May in Wheaton.

Teams typically host 6–7 home games, with games played across Naperville, Lombard, Winfield, and Wheaton. The season runs from mid-April through late June, with games scheduled on both weeknights and Saturdays. WAA teams also practice on local area fields throughout the season.

Program Overview

The Cross Town League is designed for current 7th and 8th grade players (grade as of May 1st). All players must be registered in advance and attend tryouts on March 2027 at the WAA Training Center.

This program continues to emphasize strong fundamentals of the game—including hitting, throwing, catching, and base running—while reinforcing teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development in a competitive environment.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

Tryouts for the WAA Crosstown Baseball League are planned for March 2027. Players will be assigned a tryout time and evaluated through a blind tryout process (player names are not provided to evaluators) in the following areas:

  • Pitching
  • Fielding
  • Running
  • Hitting

All players, including returning players, must be registered prior to tryouts. Travel baseball players are not eligible to participate in the Crosstown League.

What to Bring & Wear

  • Gym shoes (no cleats allowed)
  • Shirt without the player’s name visible
  • Baseball glove, bat, and helmet

Please label all equipment with the player’s name. WAA is not responsible for lost or damaged equipment.

Team Selection & Registration
Following tryouts and team formation, selected players will be notified by email. Parents must accept the roster position and complete registration and payment within 48 hours.

Failure to complete registration within the required timeframe may result in:

  • A late registration fee, and/or
  • The roster spot being offered to another player

EQUIPMENT, RULES & DIRECTIONS

EQUIPMENT:

Player Equipment:

  • Players should provide their own glove, bat (USA stamped only), batting helmet, rubber cleats, belt, and baseball pants.

Player uniform provided by WAA:

  • WAA will supply each player with a MLB replica team jerseys, MLB hat, and socks included in the registration fee.

Team equipment provided by WAA:

  • WAA provides all team equipment to the head coach, including catcher’s gear, practice baseballs, game balls, and throw down bases.
