Program Information

Wheatland Athletic Association (WAA) fields over 250 teams with over 2,500 participants in the Spring and Fall recreational soccer program.

The program is made up of boys and girls from Kindergarten to 9th grade. Kindergarten program is co-ed. WAA has a separate Girls league and a Boys league for 1st – 9th grade teams.

2016 Spring Recreational Leagues (1st – 9th grade)

An outdoor recreational soccer program for all skill levels in grades 1st – 9th grade. 1st – 9th grade teams will play a 6 game spring schedule. Please consider volunteering! Coaches are needed for each team!  Teams are formed based on gender, special request, participant school and neighborhood. Special requests are accepted but are not guaranteed and are based on a first come first serve basis by date received.

  • Ages: 1st – 9th grade
  • Fee: TBD
  • Game Dates: Saturday's beginning Apr 9th through May 14th, 2016
  • Days: Saturday games and generally weekday evening practices (practices arranged by coach)
  • Game Time: varies by schedule - posted in late March
  • Location: varies by division - posted in late March(Naperville/Aurora)

2016  Spring Kindergarten Outdoor Soccer (5 – 6 year olds)

WAA’s Kindergarten program has now joined Team Chicago’s Pro-Academy line-up of soccer. This 6-week beginning level program incorporates a skills clinic AND small sided game each week. The program is scheduled on Saturday late mornings/early afternoons. Volunteer coaches needed! Coaches work with WAA professional trainers each Saturday.

  • Ages: 5 – 6 years old (Must be 5 years old by program start date
  • Fee:TBD
  • Game Dates: Saturday's beginning Apr 9th through May 14th, 2016
  • Game Time: varies by schedule
  • Location: There are 2 locations. You will be assigned to the location nearest your home location. Previous locations have been Gentile field at 2323 Liberty in Aurora and Patterson Elementary school in Naperville.

Volunteer Opportunities

WAA is a volunteer non-profit organization and depends upon parents to volunteer as coaches in all of our sports.  Please consider volunteering as a head or assistant coach for your child's team.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. 

  • Head Coach responsibilities include attending coach meeting, contacting player families, scheduling and running team practices and coaching at league games.  Coaches may ask for participant parent assistance as needed. 

  • Assistant Coach is responsible for helping the Head Coach with all of the above, and takes over for the Head Coach when needed.

2016 Spring Outdoor Game Schedules

Rules, Equipment & Directions

  • WAA reversible jersey - Shirts are available for $15 in the WAA office. Shirts may also be available at The Soccer Edge ($20).
  • Shin guards and socks to cover the shin guards - Any color sock is allowed. WAA green socks are available in the WAA office for $6/pair.
  • Soccer Ball - Grades K-2 use size 3 ball, Grades 3-4 use size 4 ball, Grades 5-9 use size 5 ball.
  • White or Black athletic shorts, Gym shoes or outdoor soccer cleats (no metal cleats allowed).
  • Spring Kindergarten Outdoor Soccer - 2323 Liberty in Aurora and Patterson Elementary school
  • Spring Recreational Leagues - varies by division
