Highly competitive 8 year olds may try out for the Competitive Minors. WAA is a volunteer organization. Volunteer coaches are needed. Competitive coaches must apply by February 15. Competitive coaches must applyCoaching application 2019

Teams are organized using a tryout and draft process.  Players may return to the same team within a division if they meet the age requirement.  All players, including returning players, MUST be pre-registered prior to March 11th tryout. Drafted players and returning players will have until March 22nd to complete payment and program registration once they are notified. After March 22nd, a late fee will apply or another player will be drafted for roster spot.  Players not drafted will be notified and have the opportunity to register, at the early bird price (for a limited time), for the recreational baseball league.

Although the league is competitive, a continued emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of the game as players are instructed on the basics of hitting, throwing, catching and base running within a framework of teamwork and sportsmanship. There will be a maximum of 8 teams per division, and each team will have a roster of 12.  Practices will begin in April and the season will run thru early-July. Standings are kept and a division champion is determined.  Each division has a mid-season All-Star game and a championship tournament at the conclusion of the 14 game season, Players pitch the entire game and regulation baseballs are used.

Players must provide their own glove, cleats (plastic only) and white pants. WAA will provide balls, batting helmets, catcher gear, and bases for each team.  Shirt, hat and socks are included with the registration fee. Game time is typically 5:45 PM on weeknights in May and 6 PM on weeknights in June and July. Saturday and Sunday game times will vary. Each team may also play Saturday night games.
