2018 Fall Flag Football League

Please register for school grade player will be in the Fall 2018.

Flag Football in a safe and fun atmosphere. Flag football is non‐contact football for youth in grades 1st-8th*.   Each player’s fee includes rules, game orientation and instruction, skill evaluation, preseason practices and scrimmage, team jersey, a flag belt, playbook, an eight game season with end of season playoff.  During the season, teams may practice 1-2 times per week, determined by volunteer coach availability.

Volunteer coaches must apply.  Application available on Flag Football Webpage here. Volunteers will have a mandatory orientation meeting on Tuesday, July 24th, at the WAA Sports Center. 6pm-8pm for new coaches, 7pm-8pm for returning coaches. 

Pre-season Orientation** for Parents and Players at the WAA Sports Center:
Tuesday, July 31st 5:30-6:30pm  Grades 1-2, 3-4        
Tuesday, July 31st 6:45-7:45pm  Grades 5-8

Coaches may begin team practice August 1st (1-2 per week)
Scrimmage Saturday on  August 11th
Games begin Saturday, August 18th

Games generally finish within an hour.  Games are played on Saturdays, time TBD by schedule. There is an 8 game regular season schedule and single elimination tournaments culminating in a championship bowl at each level.

  • $165 - March 7th - April 30th  Extended through May 5th!
  • $175 - May 6th -June 30th
  • Special requests are considered on first come, first serve basis BY June 30th
  • Additional $20 Late fee after June 30th
  • Late fees are non-refundable
*General League Information:
1st-2nd Grade League: Volunteer coaches play quarterback. Games are two, 25-play halves. Volunteer head coaches may request 5 players to be on their roster.

3-4 Grade League: Players will try-out for quarterback on the first day of the Orientation. Games are two, 25-play halves. Volunteer coaches may request 5 players to be on their roster.

5-6 Grade League: Players will try-out for quarterback on the first day of the Orientation. Games are two, 30-play halves. Volunteer coaches may bring in an entire team per director approval.

7-8 Grade League: Players will try-out for quarterback on the first day of the Orientation. Games are two, 30-play halves. Volunteer coaches may bring in an entire team per director approval.

Program Information

Non-contact football for 1st – 8th graders, played in a safe and fun atmosphere.


Each league has a player orientation, team practices, scrimmage, games and tournament.  Games are played on Saturdays and coaches will schedule practice during the week.  All teams play an 8-game regular season schedule beginning in late August.  The season will complete with a single elimination tournament culminating in the Bowl Championship Game for each Division.

Min/Max: 48/72-144 players per league (subject to change)

Volunteer coaches are needed. Volunteer coaches play quarterback for 1st-2nd Grade league. Coaches may make player requests  based on location and car pools. Orientation meeting required.

Grade/Age Divisions

1st – 2nd Grade League — Pumpkin Bowl Division

Eight versus eight. This league develops basic skills and fundamentals and basic game strategy. The volunteer coach plays the quarterback position.

3rd  - 8th Grade Leagues 

Players rotate at all positions, according to league rules throughout each game. Players may try out for quarterback with 2 players per team selected as quarterback during preseason practice. Quarterbacks will have extra practices assigned for skill development. 

  • 3rd – 4th Grade League — Candy Bowl Division
    Eight vs. eight.  There will be a maximum of 12 teams in this division.
  • 5th – 6th Grade League — Turkey Bowl Division   Coaches can bring in their entire team! 
    Nine vs. nine.  There will be a maximum of 12 teams in this division.
  • 7th – 8th Grade Division - Mega Bowl Division  Coaches can bring in their entire team!
    Nine vs. nine.  There will be a maximum of 10 teams in this division.

We will do our best to honor special requests, however, we do not guarantee them. Requests and team placement are considered based on making evenly skilled teams, coach requests and the date order received.  We limit special requests to 2 per participant and up to 5 names for head coaches except where specified.  5th - 8th grade can bring in full teams.

  • Player Provided: All players should wear plastic/rubber spikes.
  • Optional: Mouthpiece, knee pads and elbow pads. They can be purchased at any sporting goods store.
  • WAA Provided: Each participant receives a team jersey and player flag belt.

Football Officials

WAA may hire and train flag football officials if additional workers are needed. If you are 16 or older and interested in applying, please complete the "Student Worker/Various" application and mail to WAA, 2323 Liberty Street, Aurora IL 60502 Attention: Flag Football Director.
