WAA is pleased to announce that Magno Barreto has taken over as the WAA Recreational Soccer Programs Manager.  Magno will bring his knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to ALL WAA recreational soccer programs!  

Magno’s introduction:
I grew up in Brazil playing beach soccer and Futsal. During that time I also played for E.C. Bahia(Professional Soccer Team) youth teams. When I was practicing with the pros(one step before turning pro), I received a soccer scholarship at Auburn University(AL) and decided to move to US. I broke the school record of shooting/score percentage(60%).(Not sure how to word this: I scored 60% of the shots I took). Also, as a player, I won IL Men’s State Cup, Regional Cup and competed at a National Tournament.

During my College years I worked at several Summer Camps and discovered a passion to coach the “Beautiful Game” to the youth !!I have been coaching for Team Chicago for over 20 years. Our teams have reached State and Regional levels ! For me, the highlight of my coaching career is that I’ve helped kids reach their goals to play on College, Professional and National Teams! 

This year I will be managing and involved with all WAA recreational soccer programs,  from Kindergarten, Pro Academy, Skills Training, Camps,  Indoor and Outdoor Recreational Leagues. I also serve as the WAA Facilities Manager and a Director of PlayUSA Soccer Camps.  I still enjoys playing soccer in the WAA adult leagues.  My wife and I have two wonderful daughters and live in the area.
