  • The Waubonsie Valley High School varsity softball team, which includes Spikes players, with some members and coaches from the University of Louisville softball team. Margie Wright set up the meeting. A great experience for the girls and coaches!   (click on photo to enlarge).
     


  • Katie Klen (an 8 year player with the Spikes), with the help of Margie Wright, has been added to the softball staff at Arizona. Bypassing opportunities to play at smaller schools, Katie chose to follow her dream of attending Arizona. Her love of softball, and a little nudge from Margie, got Katie the opportunity to become part of the Arizona program. Congratulations Katie!

 


  • Margie Wright is the Wheatland Spikes Director of Player Development.
    Retired from Fresno State after 27 years as the Bulldog softball coach, Margie led the Fresno State Bulldogs to the NCAA national softball championship in 1998 and is the NCAA's all-time winningest softball coach. She also ranks second all-time in career victories among NCAA Division I coaches in all sports. She was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000 and the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.

2013 Tournament Results

Spikes 14U Van Degraft earned a World Series bid with 2nd Place finish at the Fall Bash (ASA Qualifier) Chenoa, IL (Oct. 20, 2013). Photo

Spikes 18U JW finished 2nd going 7-3 in the Orland A's 2013 Autumn Blast ASA/USA Metro College Exposure Tournament, (Oct. 19-20, 2013). Photo

Spikes 16U Calabrese went 5-0 against some very strong competition at the Stone City PGF Midwest Regional Qualifier (Oct. 19-20, 2013) winning first place and securing their PGF bid to the Midwest Regionals! Photo

Spikes 10U Rau at the USSSA 10U "B"  World Series in Branson, Mo.  They went 1-2 in pool play ultimately ended up 5-4 for the week and made the Elite 8 (tied for 7th out of 30 teams). Photo

Spikes 16U Willhalm -  go 5-2 at the St Louis Exposure Showcase (Nov. 2-4, 2012): Playing teams from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana, the team outscored their opponents 49 to 17 in the seven games

Spikes 16U Willhalm - took 1st Place in the Demarini Best of the Midwest College Exposure Tournament in Joliet, IL. (Oct 19-21, 2012).

Spikes 8U Vlach - took 2nd at the NSA B World Series Tournament in Crown Point, IN (July 27, 2012).

Spikes 11U Chval - took 2nd playing up in the 12U Stingray Summer Showdown (July 20-22).

Spikes 11U Chval - took 1st place in the North Surburban League.

Spikes 12U Morris - won the Morris Rowdie Katz All-Star Tournament (June 29-July 1) and the SWS Inhouse Championship.

Spikes 11U Chval - take 1st place at the NSA World Series Qualifier Tournament in Chelsea, MI (June 29-July 1).

Spikes 15U Barker - took 3rd place playing up in the 18U Aurora Stars and Stripes Tournament (June 29-July 1).

Spikes 8U Spika - won the SWS Championship defeating the Naperville Diamonds (June 26).

Spikes 15U Barker - took 1st at the Romeoville Starzz Summer Classic (June 22-24).

Spikes 12U Murray - took 2nd at the Yorkville Father's Day Tournament (June 15-17).

Spikes 10U Husted - finished 2nd in the Aurora City of Lights 10U Open tournament (June 16-17). The Spikes girls averaged scoring 8 runs per game while only allowing an average of 3 runs against them and lost only one bracket game, the championship, to the Oak Park Windmills A team.

Spikes 10U Husted - took 3rd place in the St. Charles Comets Classic (June 8-10). They accepted a bid and earned a spot in the USSSA 10U World Series.

Spikes 9U Rau - earned a 2nd place finish in the 9U division in the St Charles Comets Tournament (June 8-10).

Spikes 10U Husted - took 2nd place in the Dirt Devil Dazzler A/B tournament (April 28-29, 2012) in Channahon, IL. They outscored their opponents 60-25 in this tournament.

Spikes 12U Murray - took 2nd at the West Chicago Pre-Season Championships (April 20-22, 2012).
